What's the real difference between a brass coin and a "gold-plated" coin?
It’s a difference in the base and final look. Our Custom Brass Coins are made of solid brass, which has a natural, warm, gold-like color. It can be polished to a high shine or given an “antique” finish. A “gold-plated” coin (which we also make) typically has a copper or bronze base that is then electroplated with a layer of real, brilliant gold. Brass offers a classic, heavy, single-metal feel, while gold plating provides a brighter, more precious, mirror-like finish.
What does the "antique brass" finish look like?
An antique finish is a very popular choice. We first die-strike your design into the solid brass, then we apply a dark chemical coating to the entire coin. This coating is then hand-rubbed off the raised 3D surfaces, leaving the dark finish in all the recessed areas and valleys. This creates a beautiful, high-contrast look that makes the 3D details “pop” and gives the coin a timeless, “heritage” feel.
We are a small club. Do we have to order 100 or 200 coins?
